  • What makes RechargePhysio different?

     

     

    We want to help you RECHARGE, not just recover. RECHARGE, means getting pain relief is just the beginning. We want to help you recover from injury and pain, then to help you recharge your health, so you are better than ever.

    We take you from relief and repair of your condition, through to retuning and recharging your body.

    Relief: get relief from your aches and pains; Repair: let us advise and guide you towards optimal regeneration and tissue repair; Recharge: we help to align your body and correct muscle imbalances and weakness for efficient function, improve physical performance and energy

    Simply, we really care about helping you. We listen, we test, we treat, we follow-up, we RECHARGE you. We are able to do this through our longer consultations, spending up to an hour on your first visit, to hear your story, listen to what’s bothering you and what you would like help with, thoroughly examine not only the site of symptoms, but the whole movement system.

    We then do a series of tests, checking whole movement, then test muscles, joints, nerves, ligaments, tendons, postures and more to best direct your treatment plan. We use many traditional physiotherapy techniques to help you such as: goal setting, motivational interviewing, massage, strapping, manipulation, dry needling, exercise prescription, education and much more.

    Once your pain or key problem has resolved we go another step, helping you to RECHARGE. This means looking at ways to optimise your health, function, vitality, and prevent further injury. Typically this will include the following: Spinal and posture check. Why? Many reasons, and here are just a few:

    • Nerves come from the spine. Poor spine function can lead to reduced nerve flow which can make muscles weaker, muscle tension, poorer health, performance, and greater risk of injury.
    • Poor posture leads to joint inefficiency, and greater chance of wear
    • Poor posture can effect your breathing and circulation

    Muscle balance assessment.

    There are many muscles in your body, some move you, some stabilise, some make you bend, some make you rotate. Every movement, whether that be breathing, running or smiling requires control and balance of muscle activity. Imbalanced muscles can lead to unstable joints, functional weakness, reduced efficiency, increased risk of injury and can make you feel less than your best.

    We can test muscle around every joint and help you rebalance them.

    Assist with exercise program prescription.

    We are meant to move. Correctly prescribed exercise can make you move better, feel better, think better and live better. Modern life needs to common movement imbalances that often need correcting. An exercise program needs to relate to your goals, and address your personal areas of strength and weakness, as well as being enjoyable and sustainable. We can help you find ways to move better and feel better.

    Lifestyle review.

    We are in a constant state of tissue break down and rebuilding. If there is more break down than rebuilding, you will feel sore, tired, old, injured, and less than your best. If there is more rebuilding than breakdown in the body you will start to feel better, more energetic, recover better, and feel your best.

    Your body and how you feel is shaped by your lifestyle, especially your lifestyle over the last six weeks. Lifestyle factors include: movement and exercises, nutrition, rest and sleep, mood, and your environment.

    By understanding more about your lifestyle, we can help you make small adjustments that can tip the balance towards repair, regeneration, greater vitality and performance. If needed, we may also recommend you see another health care professional to obtain your best outcome. This may include sports doctors, specialist, dieticians, personal trainers or others.

  • Do I need to see a doctor first?

    No, you can come straight to us if you have an ache, pain, sudden injury or dysfunction. We can assess you, fill out any ACC paperwork, and refer to specialists, Xrays and ultrasound scans as needed.

    If you have a gradual process injury, such as occupational overuse injury, go to your doctor first for a referral to physio.

  • What conditions do you treat?

  • What happens in the first consultation?

    For the first consultation, allow up to an hour. Bring along any relevant xrays, reports or referrals with you.

    First we will ask you a series of questions, to ascertain what is going on and how we can best help you. We will then perform a number of movement based tests and examination before discussing with you what is going on and how we can help before commencing treatment. Treatment is tailored to your goals, condition and preferences.

    Treatment requirements vary dependent on your injury, goals and motivation. As a rule of thumb, we recommend two visits a week for the first two weeks, then once a week for another four weeks. After then follow-ups are often spaced out.

    If you find it difficult to motivate yourself to do your independent rehab, we can see you more regularly, and do the rehab with you, like personal training. If you are low on funds, we can tailor your plan, and give you tools and a plan to follow, so you can do a lot of independent rehab. Let us know at the time of consultation so we can tailor or treatment to help you achieve your goals with what you can put in.
